My Avatar

I’ve been asked all of the time:

“Why don’t you show a pic of yourself?”
“How do you look like?”
“What do you have to hide?”
And I’ve heard:

“I think it’s kind of weird speaking to someone and I don’t know how they look.”

I understand everything said. I am going to answer the question once and for all.

“Why don’t I show a pic online?”

The answer: I do.

I have a personal MySpace, Facebook and Twitter page. You just have to find it. For those who know me personally know I have nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to how I look. In fact, sometimes I can be downright arrogant.
Not only that, 6’4″ and 230lbs looks good the majority of the time.

When The Luvologist came to the scene I initially had a pic of me posted as an avatar. But I found that peeps are particular. Some people knew me so they had a difficult time asking me questions about their love lives for fear I would pass judgment. Others would look at my pic and pass judgment on me. I was told if I didn’t have a receding hairline, have gray hairs, wore glasses or looked a certain way I couldn’t be trusted. If you notice I don’t mention if I am single, dating, engaged, married, my age or my race for that same reason.

Gotta love those stereotypes.

I use an avatar because (to me) love has no color. And it has no boundaries. So often when conversing with someone we qualify their knowledge by how they look. That’s how most qualify our mates is by their attractiveness. One of the things I wanted to do was take how I look out of the picture.

When it’s all said and done, I try to build trust with the words I say and not by how I look.

Will I ever replace my avatar with a pic of me?

Soon…very soon.

Any questions?
